I can't believe it! This is so amazing, that's a great shot, man! I'm very impressed.

Well, thanks a lot for sharing all of that. You completely got my attention. How much can you earn in one summer?
:iconlukasdp:
ummm that varies with the fire hazard. You make close to 18$ per hour. But the real money is when the weather is hot and dry, and over time kicks in.
Working your days off are the best cause your looking at double time for 5 days. which on a fire day easily equals over 500$ a day. those are great days, work does not feel like work. And your in the forest so you have no chance to spend ANY of it. Its just sitting in your bank waiting for you. My first season was horribly slow, and i cleared I think 10-13,000$ in 5 months. The year after that the hazard was much better, hardly any rain, and we got sent to Montana for 2 weeks. that trip alone earned us about 3,000$ so that year I was closer to 20,000$
half of it is the experience, you literally see things no one else ever would.

Why isn't everybody working in this? Well, it looks very exciting to me! Do you know if it is too hard for a foreign person to do that? Anyway, after this, Alberta is now one of the places I have to meet someday.
:iconlukasdp:
The hiring process will be a bit more stressful, simply due to the multi point hiring process. And i should point out that the dead line for this April to apply was back in November. So if you are thinking of doing this then you will have to wait until the fire season of 2009, and apply for it around September 2008. Also Alberta is not the only place that does this, Every country with Forests have some sort of environmental protection program. B.C, Alberta, and Ontario are the three best provinces in Canada to work in. Heres the link to the web page. [link]

I was a helitack member. (HAC1H) which is the one I would recommend, but the rappel program is a good one too, if you want to slide down ropes from a helicopter. could be fun.

Rappeling down from a helicopter?!! Man, you shock me! That's something I really want to do!
The information is ok, I allready have plans for this year, so 2009 will be fine. Well, I'll check the links. Oh, and I saw the other photo. Heroes all around? Ha, you kill me!

We have forests too, but that work, here, has a very low pay, and the security standards are very poor, as well as the training. The equipment is very basic. So, I wouldn't do it here.

i'll retardant you.

:iconpicture-bandit:
genius snapshot, the fire-fighters with their back to you, all leads you to a a different part of the picture, the guys to the smoke, the smoke to the falling water, the falling water to the plane.

Excellent!
